Howard's Favorite Things

Howard’s Favorite Things To Do Around Charleston

Have you ever wondered what “the locals” do around Charleston?  Well below are a few of Howard Letts’, the General Manager of The Restoration on King, favorite things to do in and around Charleston, in his own words:

Dining Out?  FIG has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston, from their dedication to "farm to table" and sustainable menus (working with local farmers, growers and purveyors), to the great food, great wine list, and great service.  I definitely recommend trying their Pan Roasted Snapper or Scamp Grouper Persillade – so good”.

Other restaurants?  “Well I go to Oak Steakhouse for a Great Steak, and don't miss their Tuna Tartar or the Foie Gras. Then there’s O-Ku for Charleston's best Sushi, and of course cocktails at the Cocktail Club on their rooftop followed by Dinner at Macintosh”.

Charleston Beaches?  “My favorite beach to go to around Charleston has to be Sullivan's Island.  It’s a much quieter beach and my Cocker Spaniel Xuxu, of course loves the beach.  It’s a perfect beach to spend the morning, and then Poe’s is conveniently out there to stop in and have lunch there. They have wonderful Mahi-Mahi Fish Tacos too”.

Outdoors? Palmetto Islands County Park is a favorite for walks with Xuxu and just exploring all of the tucked away areas of the park.  The area has so much to do, and on days off I enjoy fishing, crabbing, biking or just walking around historic Charleston's streets and exploring our wonderful city”.

Down and Around Town Entertainment? “There’s so much to do in and around Charleston throughout the year.  My favorite landmarks around town are the Ravenel Bridge and the Morris Island Lighthouse – both are great areas to visit for a nice walk.  Downtown I would also recommend checking out places like the Dock Street Theater and the Music Farm. And then there’s also nothing better than getting to attend the annual Charleston’s BBT Food + Wine Festival & Spoleto events each year”.

Hotel Amenities Keep Improving

Charleston's Best Kept Secret, Is Getting Even Better!

With a luxury hotel offering high-end condo style suites, there is a long list of hotel amenities that we pride ourselves on providing – from flat-screen televisions and iHome clock radio stations, to grocery delivery and stocking service, to continental breakfast served each morning in picnic baskets.  So why would we stop there?

Last month we added bedside white noise sound machines, and high-end make-up mirrors - both of which have already received rave reviews.  This summer, we are also offering complimentary box seat Riverdog Baseball tickets to our hotel guests, on an as-available basis.  But our improvements to the hotel do not stop there.  Over the next few months we will also be adding a new awing and flower pots to our Wentworth Street entrance, as well as updating all the carpet, blinds, and luxury bed linens to each suite.

It’s these high-end improvements and small little details, that we will continue to make – ensuring a wonderful stay each time you visit the beautiful city of Charleston.
